This last week Carter and I spent in Utah. Carter absolutely loves the snow and has no fear, so we thought we might try and channel his energy into something constructive. Turns out he's a natural!
Grandpa Steve decided to teach him. Here's Carter and Grandpa on the chairlift at Snowbasin.
Ready to go and so excited!
His first run. Just getting used to it.
By his third run he was going down the hill by himself! Crazy! He learned incredibly fast. We knew he would love it, but had no idea that he would catch on so fast.
He was good with just skiing until he saw this. He begged to have a ride. I told him if he got hurt bad enough he could have a ride. Luckily, he didn't take me up on that offer:)
The last run of the day and he's brave enough to try the jumps through the trees. He didn't make all of them, but he sure wanted to try. He's so competitive and it really showed on the snow. We came home and watched the Olympics and he informed me that he's going to snowboard like Shaun White. He love it so much that we decided to stay another three days in Utah. We put him in a group lesson and the instructor told me he was amazingly good. They actually said he could start snowboarding next year, normally they say age seven. Carter was really excited to hear that since he's been crying for a snowboard every day since he went skiing. It was such a great trip! Of course, since both skiing and snowboarding are a passion of mine, I was super excited that he liked it so much!
